What’s behind the Picot Report?

We have to fight Picot as totally reactionary and repugnant, not because we have any illusions about the system it is designed to replace, but rather because we have no illusions about what it is designed to achieve. Opposition to the Picot Report has to be based on a correct understanding that it amounts to a total attack on the remnants of free, universal and compulsory education introduced over a century ago.
